Minor Piercing Policy & Required Documentation
Additionally…
The name listed on the parent or guardian’s photo ID must match the parent or guardian information listed on the minor’s birth certificate.
If the parent or guardian is navigating divorce, adoption, or a legal name change, appropriate legal documentation (such as court orders or adoption papers) is required at the appointment.
If a minor’s legal name differs from their chosen name, please notify Jeane in advance so your child can be addressed respectfully by their chosen name during the appointment.
If any required documentation is missing at the time of your appointment, we will be unable to proceed with the piercing.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’m always happy to help make this process as smooth as possible.
A legal parent or guardian must be present for the entirety of the appointment.
Please bring the following documents to your appointment:
A long-form birth certificate for the minor
Ages 16–17: One valid, state-issued photo ID (permit, driver’s license, or passport) showing name, date of birth, and photograph
Under 16: Earlobe piercings only
Long-form birth certificate for the minor
A legal parent or guardian present
State-issued photo ID for the parent or guardian
Things to consider…
Eat beforehand.
Having a meal before your appointment helps prevent lightheadedness or nausea during the procedure.
Keep your crew small.
You’re welcome to bring a friend or two, but a smaller audience in the lobby and piercing room often helps reduce anxiety and keeps the experience calm and comfortable.
Plan around swimming.
I’ll always ask if you plan to swim within the first month of healing. Submerging a fresh piercing in lakes, rivers, pools, or the ocean greatly increases the risk of infection.
Avoid early jewelry changes.
It’s not recommended to change your jewelry for at least six months—especially to pieces that aren’t implant-certified material. The jewelry we use is the highest quality for healing, and sized for particular phases in healing. Switching too early or to lower-quality jewelry can slow healing or cause serious complications. This is not regarding downsizing.
Be patient and ask questions.
Healing takes time. Trust your piercer, follow aftercare instructions, and never hesitate to ask questions—we’re here to help.
Testimonial
“I’ve seen Jeane a couple of times now and am always impressed by their professionalism, attention to detail, and kindness. Got my other nostril pierced the other day and time was taken to measure and ensure symmetry. The quality and quantity of jewelry selection is amazing. Whole place is clean, best practices used, and unlike other piercing places I’ve visited, is not at all intimidating. Everyone is super welcoming. Would go back again anytime.” — Anna
